Older populations

The risk of poor health generally increases as we age. However, good health and wellbeing can be maintained well into older age with the right support and access to services. Social isolation is one of the biggest risks to both mental and physical health and older people are especially affected by it.

Recent years have seen a shift in attitudes towards older age with an increased recognition that older people continue to give back to their communities after they have reached retirement age. Older people can become a great asset to local communities if they are supported to maintain independence and take part in community life. This in turn can greatly improve and help maintain their own health and wellbeing.

Below you can find a number of documents identifying the health and wellbeing needs of older people. Please note that this list will be updated when new information becomes available.
