Children with special educational needs

Services for pre-school children in Hackney are commonly described according to the Children’s Centre area they are based in – there are six such areas locally.B Over a recent two-year period, Children’s Centre areas A-D have seen an increase in the number of pre-school children accessing disability or special needs services, but areas E and F have seen a reduction. Area C has witnessed the largest increase, with a four-fold rise in the number of children accessing these services over this period (Figure 2). This is not accounted for by an increase in the relative size of the under-five population in this area over this time period.
